Buenas! My name is Alejandra Teresa Fenton-Ramos. I usually go by Alex, but please feel free to call me either. I'm a student at Pacific Lutheran University working towards my Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy and previously graduated with my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Washington with minors in diversity and in gender, women, and sexuality studies.
As a daughter of immigrants and a refugee mother, I wanted to become a therapist primarily so I could work in the Latinx and Hispanic community. There is such a need in our BIPOC (black, indigenous, people of color) communities, but our people often struggle to find the resources they need. I want to help create a change in these communities where going to therapy becomes normalized and where stigma and shame no longer have to be associated with caring for your mental health.
I prioritize creating a space where clients feel accepted, validated, and safe. I welcome all identities and paths of life so we can work together in order to change the patterns in your life that you want to see change. In going to therapy myself, I always wanted to see someone in the field that looked like me, and someone I could connect with easily without having to educate my therapist on what it means to be marginalized. I hope that I can be that someone for you.
